Contest Time

The end of the year brings with it a host of contests for newspapers.
They may not as big as the National Newspaper Awards but the Spectator's own photographers' contest is a friendly chance to compete against our peers in-house.
Here are my entries for the news, feature and sports categories.
Above, a car ran into the Big Portions, good Eats Restaurant on Main Street East in Hamilton. Emergency services get lots of calls for "vehicles into buildings" but this one took on a whole new meaning when a car's front wheel broke and the vehicle ended up "in" the building. Restaurant owner Sing Mark was inside at the time and emerges through the resulting hole. The restaurant remains closed after the August accident.
The photo at the left was entered in the feature category. It is a photo illustration for a story on cyber-bulling. The photo is two photos assembled in photoshop.
